Octomom Nadya Suleman Reevaluates Porn

The latest Octomom news is that Nadya Suleman has declared bankruptcy.

But that’s not the headline getting the most attention today: Suleman has also wavered on her no-porn stance now that she is in more desperate straits.

According to Us Magazine: “The controversial mom said she'd consider starring in a pornographic film for the right amount of money. "If the opportunity comes up I'll be the first to admit: I'm gonna eat my words!" said Suleman.”

You may remember Suleman posed topless for British Closer Magazine a few months ago, but said she would never do hardcore porn.

"I won't touch other human flesh," Suleman explained. "The only flesh I'm touching is my own. I would never, never accept anything. I will not lose my grip of my deeply indoctrinated morals and values."

She elaborated: "Every choice we parents make is going to significantly affect our children for the rest of our lives. It's going to haunt them forever. I have to be the ultimate positive role model."

While some critics may be quick to point out that this makes Octomom a hypocrite, I’m not ready to jump on the bandwagon.

Oftentimes porn is a last ditch decision when all other forms of making money have failed. Suleman is in a unique position where she needs large amounts of money to support her family. Her getting a job at McDonalds is not going to help her situation.

If doing porn is a way for her to earn the money she needs and she feels okay about it, then I say power to her. From her comments though, I am concerned that she does not feel empowered about the decision.

I hope she will consider all her options before she makes a decision she might regret, but ultimately, she may decide to renegotiate her values and “morals” when it comes time to provide for her children. I imagine this is a decision that many other moms have needed to make. When it comes to our family, we often can rise above our critics and our conflicts to provide for our children.

I wish her the best luck in coming to the best decision for her and her family.
